Clinical Studies

Ventilation

Our “Regain” HMV program is designed and based on clinical papers.

Clinical papers describe that home mechanical ventilation is good for a large variety of pathologies which lead Celki VitalAire to develop 2 categories of patients/protocols.

1. COPD: The preliminary result suggests that in COPD patients who survive AHRF after treatment with acute NIV, continuation with home NIV is associated with a reduced risk of recurrent AHRF when compared with control.  This study lends support to the use of home NIV in the management of the subgroup of COPD patients who have survived an episode of AHRF.

2. Respiratory muscle weakness: NPPV may raise lung volume, improve lung compliance, and reduce dead space by recruitment of atelectatic lung associated with respiratory muscle weakness.

3. Obesity Hypoventilation: In conclusion, BPV-S/T therapy substantially improves clinical parameters such as sleep quality and specific aspects of HRQL in patients with Obesity Hypoventilation syndrome.

Clinical paper indicated about the importance of HMV on reducing hospital re-admission and improving patient’s quality of life. Our “Regain protocols ensure your patient’s HMV therapy is in good hands!

4. In summary, flow-targeted dynamic BPAP effectively suppresses apneas and hypopneas in chronic heart failure (CHF) patients with residual Cheyne-Stokes respiration (CSR) – central sleep apnea (CSA) receiving conventional CPAP/BPAP therapy.  Flow-targeted dynamic BPAP was perceived as a comfortable treatment and subjectively improved sleep quality.

5. Jones et al. have suggested that home NIV may reduce both hospital admissions and clinic visits in severe COPD with hypercapnic respiratory failure

Clinical paper tells about the importance of first month of intensive education and follow-up, which is consistent to our “Regain” protocol. Celki is well equipped to work with you to take care of the patients. To perfect our service, we have added Tele-monitoring as optional offer.

6. One item that appears most important for success in these studies is the need for careful and continuous follow-up and is suggested to be done within 1 to 3 months…
